Auburn Yoga Weekend

In our effort to bring the yoga community together, we bring you another grassroots yoga event. The Auburn Yoga Weekend. Last year was amazing! Again, we aim to create an affordable event where many styles and schools of yoga and thought can come together, and teach and learn. Come and take as many classes as you like, learn new and inspiring things, and meet amazing people.
 
I will be teaching at 10am and 4pm on Sunday. I am offering a Stress Reduction workshop at 10am and a Chakra Balancing workshop at 4pm.

Class Descriptions:
Open Vinyasa Class-
Suitable for beginners and all levels. In these classes, we link a series of poses together using our breath and each participant is encouraged to go at his or her own pace, depending on fitness levels and individual needs. I offer modifications (for beginners) and challenges (for more advanced yogis) to each flow series, in an effort to meet the needs of all individuals in the class.

Prenatal Class-
In my prenatal classes, I focus on offering mothers with a quiet place to turn their focus inward and bond with their child, while strengthening their bodies and utilizing the breath (preparing for birth). These classes also offer women a time to be comfortable with the changes in their bodies, throughout pregnancy and bond with other women who are pregnant. This is suitable for women who have prior yoga experience, as well as those who have never tried yoga, prior to pregancy. Similar to the Open Flow classes, I offer modifications and challenges to each pose, depending on needs and goals of practice.

Reminder of workshop for this coming Sat

Improvements for the new year

In an effort of growth, I am in the process of developing a new website, which will be more user friendly and will allow customers to pay online using credit cards. My hope is to have this completed and up in running by the new year.
I am also looking at adding options for fees, offering monthly fees for unlimited classes. I know that many of you enjoy coming mutliple times a week and this new option would be geared towards you, to allow you that freedom at a minimal cost.
In looking back at this year, I am so thankful for all the wonderful people I have had the chance to practice with and hope to continue to offer classes that are worthwhile and meaningful to each one of you. I am very open to any suggestions that you may have, to continue to grow. Starting the first week of December, I will have a suggestion box that I will keep at the front desk of each of my classes. Please feel free to offer any suggestions you may have (ie; type of class you wish to have offered, music choices, poses you wish to work on, times you wish classes were offered, etc).

Holiday Vacation

Saturday Classes

I will be attending a Yoga training this coming weekend, so I will not be holding classes this coming Saturday, 10/8. There is also a previously scheduled event at Grounded by Yoga on 10/22, so unfortunately, we will not be holding classes that day. I will also be attending a yoga training on 11/5. I apologize for any inconvinience this may cause. I am always trying to further develop and deepen into my yoga practice, so that I may be a more effective insturctor. Monday's Class

I want to extend an apology to anyone who attempted to attend this evenings class. I had some major car trouble on my way to class tonight and had no way of reaching anyone to cancel class. New things happening in September!

Fall seems to be the season of new growth and harvesting for me! Lots of new things coming in the next month. Please check me out at the following;

Beginning in October, I will be starting 2 new classes at Grounded by Yoga at  4 East Main Street Bloomfield. Prenatal Yoga at 11am and Open Class at 12:15pm.

Hosting YogaFit Training at Physikos!

Course Description:
This informative workshop gives instructors the tools to create inspiring vinyasa yoga classes that are founded on flow yet grounded in the safety of exercise science. The learning includes physical execution, transitions, and modifications to traditional yoga poses with an emphasis on effectiveness and safety. Dynamic vinyasa sequencing, flowing class formats, and transformative language for communicating the mind/body connection have made this the most popular vinyasa yoga style in the world today. While most attendees have experience as either yoga students, teachers, therapists, or as fitness professionals, there are no prerequisites, only the desire to learn and commitment to attend. Level 1 includes an innovative and experiential learning environment guided by a talented and experienced YogaFit Master Trainer, a YogaFit Level 1 DVD and Active Volume 3 CD (first-time participants only), and a comprehensive training manual.
YogaFit has trained thousands of people worldwide. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion which qualifies one to teach YogaFit style classes once Communtiy Service is complete. In order to receive the Level 1 Teacher Training Certificate of Completion, YogaFit requires the Level 1 Trainee to donate 8 hours of practice teaching in a community service setting, bringing the gift of yoga to individuals who would not normally be exposed to yoga on a regular basis.

Getting ready for Boston!

Getting ready for the Boston Marathon and had a very relaxing practice this evening which has helped me calm some of my nerves and feel very strong for the race! I was reflective tonight, on how yoga has changed so many aspects of my life, including my running. I feel faster from the inside and out and far more flexible! Am excited to see the results in my race on Monday.

Yoga for Runners Workshop

·        Techniques to increase flexibility in areas that are especially tight for runners (hip flexors, hamstrings, quads, etc.)

Info about my vinyasa yoga classes and prenatal yoga classes



Yoga
With Yoga, we turn our focus inward, listening to our bodies, relaxing into our breath and giving our attention to the present moment.
Yoga offers significant benefits to our physical, emotional and cognitive health. These include, but are not limited to; stronger muscles, increased flexibility, natural weight loss, reduced stress, increase in focus and strengthened immune system.
I practice and teach from a Vinyasa style of yoga, which involves linking several poses together, to increase strength, flexibility, balance, focus, and body awareness. I focus on smooth transitions between poses, to create a fluid, relaxing and safe experience for each class participant.
Prenatal Yoga
Pregnancy brings many changes; both physically and emotionally.  Prenatal yoga can help you transition through these changes with joy and ease.
In my prenatal classes, the goal is to support women in having healthy and happy pregnancies, while forming an everlasting bond with your baby. I focus on providing safe practice for both baby and mom.
Prenatal yoga can increase your vitality, reduce stress levels, improve posture, and strengthen muscles and ligaments, as you advance in your pregnancy.
Prenatal yoga allows you to be more self-aware and experience your pregnancy, with the changes that naturally occur. This helps mothers to be in tune with their child and feel close to their growing baby, long before he or she is born.
